Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif Tuesday again appeared before an accountability court in Islamabad hearing the remaining two corruption references against him and his family, a private TV channel reported.
Nawaz Sharif’s counsel Khawaja Harris continued cross-examination of joint investigation team (JIT) head Wajid Zia in Al-Azizia and Flagship Investments references. As Accountability Court-II Judge Arshad Malik resumed the hearing, Khawaja Harris called Wajid Zia a ‘dishonest’ man, after which harsh words were exchanged between the both.
Zia claimed that the picture of Hussain Nawaz during Panama case interrogation was leaked from the JIT office. However, he refused to reveal the name of the person responsible.
On Monday, a three-judge bench headed by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan had ordered a six-week extension in the deadline for concluding the remaining two corruption references against the Sharif family.
