KARACHI – Atleast four suspects were killed in a shootout with police and two others arrested on Monday in multiple operations conducted by the police in Karachi.
According to the police, an operation was carried out in Gulshan-i-Iqbal’sDalmia area on reports regarding the presence of Lyari gang-war suspects. The suspects opened fire upon seeing police personnel and in the shootout four suspects were injured who died before being shifted to a hospital.
Police recovered a Kalashnikov rifle, repeater gun, four rifle grenades, two hand grenades, two pistols, and a cache of bullets from the possession of the suspects.In a separate targeted operation in Gulshan-i-Maymar, law enforcers arrested a suspect belonging to the militant wing of a political party.
The sources said that police caught the suspect, identified as Asif, over information provided by an under-custody suspect.In Ajmer Nagri, another armed suspect was arrested and weapons retrieved from him. In Landhi’sDawoodChowrangi, people assaulted two alleged dacoits and handed them over to police.
